Newquay and Ryanair

I hear that Newquay Airport are to end their association with Ryanair on the grounds that it is costing the local council too much to subsidise the operation. Anybody able to confirm?

I expect that Newquay will not be the only local authority whose ratepayers are subsidising Ryanair type operations. In the case of local authority airfields that went the PLC route, I thought that subsidy of the airfield or any of its operators by the local authority became illegal.
