Hi
I am doing the twin Ir at ari and converting at home.(A minimum of 15 hours I was quoted)

Is the twin time of any use to me ?
I was told you could log 50% of this under jar regulations

Anyone know anymore ?

Hi Muck

You are correct in that you can log 50% of the time.

The system works by using the planes at night when they are not been used for training. They have a roster and pair up pilots to share the cost.

The school wont let you fly solo, normally one pilot fly’s the leg and the other guy acts as safety pilot (radio etc) vice versa on the return journey.

This time is permitted to be logged as PIC for both pilots as far as FAA are concerned.

JAA does not recognise 'safety pilot' so these logged hrs mean nothing if you are going for JAA licence issue.

In a nutshell you can only log (for JAA) the hrs you are handling pilot.

Even still £80 per hr as handling pilot (P.1,Twin) in the logbook is cheap in comparison.

Just be careful on your conversion back in the UK I got stung an extra £2500 because I chose the wrong FTO and subsequently moved elsewhere!

Good luck & have fun

P.S. Suggest you visit Bombardiers on a Wednesday night! ;)

I was hour building recently at one of the west coast schools that advertises in the local flying magazines here in the UK. Although I was doing single engine I inquired about doing multi time on a later visit. From what I remember they only required you to have 15 or perhaps it was 25 hours total multi time before you can go off solo without a safety pilot. It sounds like you have already committed to Ari but if you are looking for additional time at a later date I would really do some research as different flight schools have different insurance companies and policies and like most things in life there are deals to be done.

As an aside I think the rate for a Seneca was around 130 USD wet.

If you are doing the 100 hours multi program at ariben...you will need a min of 200 hours total time first, because of ther insurance

I Seem to remember I only had 165hrs TT before they let me loose hr building!

I was told you couldn't hr build unless you had 70hrs on the BE76 but they let me go on my tod after 55hrs?

Do they have a website?

Yes they do Louis. Use a search engine such as google and you'll find it in approximately 0.38 seconds.

Then use our search engine and you'll be able discover the varying opinions of the service they provide.
