Read it here (http://www.news.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=1110792003)

Work has also started on the extended taxiways,

Widebody stands and widening of the cul-de-sac next?

It is actually quite worrying. A major UK airport at last gets the approval for a tower so that its ATC staff can see all of the airport! Why has it taken sooooo long?

I have known many an ATCO 'watching their backs', but never folk who can see around corners!

I'm quite concerened myself, especially when I fly back to London from Uni for a weekend in a few weeks!

Why has it taken so long? Perhaps BAA are over-staffed at
EDI and they are falling over themselves? This question to the Scottish Parliament would suggest BAA's EDI payroll should be transferred elsewhere.. :O :O

Parliamentary Questions:

Robert Brown (Glasgow) (LD): To ask the Scottish Executive what
discussions it has had with the British Airport Authority regarding
whether the authority will adhere to the Executive's policy of
dispersal of public sector jobs and services, particularly from
Edinburgh.

(S2W-2882)

Nicol Stephen: The Scottish Executive has had no such discussions
with the British Airport Authority (BAA). BAA operates in the private
sector and the location of its workforce and services is an operational
matter for the company.
