The Flying Ferry Fact or Fiction?

Sometime ago I heard talk of some kind of flying ferry being developed in Oz. This thingy was sposed to fly above the surface of the water (I am not sure how high). Anyone no anything about this?

Wing In Ground Effect aircaraft. Was one on test in Cairns but it took a dunking. Search PPRuNe.

or do a google search for ekranoplans ... big russian wing in ground effect things from 20-30 years ago.... if you can find some pictures, they look awesome!!! :8
