Surely money will eventually buy poverty - after you've spent it all.

As for the Californians, I guess they've got what they deserve.

California.....a hype driven state.
Voted in fairly and squarly by a hype driven, media suckered people.
Someone told me that California is the 4th largest economy in the world, hard to believe, can anyone confirm?

cjam - 8th largest was what I read in Time a couple of years ago. You have got to remember Aerospace and Defence industries are still huge there, along with everything else (entertainment, IT, Armed forces, Agriculture etc. etc.). Biggest state in the union population wise - 38 million.

As for whether or not he will be any good in the job - only time will tell. Gray Davis was only the second Governor in history to be recalled. It takes a staggering amount of fiscal mismangement to be removed by a recall in a relatively apothetic electorate like California! :oh:

Population of 38 million and only 3 million voters turned out...what a joke!

According to Bob Carr on Sydney radio this morning, more voters turned out in the last NSW state election, from a population of around 6 million.

That's because it's not compulsary to vote in the USA. I would say we'd be lucky to have triple digits in oz if it wasn't compulsary to vote. Political apathy it a lot more prevalent in oz than the good ol' usa.
