Does anybody know the full story about the TA pilot the AAC took on a few years ago. I think she went to heavy lift ?

Ex reg now, but a member of the TA (Signals) and desperately trying to get more experience/flying job. Plenty of multi plank time and Frozen (ATPL) with IR. Any info appreciated.....

The situation she found herself in was unique. It was at a time when the AAC was looking at putting the first women through the pilots course.

Ask most who were around then and you will find it was a bit of a PR exercise gone wrong.

Not going to go into too many details here, but the selection was a bit political.

I knew both of them quite well. The one you are refering to had a CPL and a few hours civvie prior to going onto the course plus a few other connections.

I dont think it would happen again me thinks!!:}

I doubt it Beagle - unlike the junior service, in the Army you're allowed to screw up, but not down.

Was she the one that flew islanders in Bad Lippspringe or the one who held the distinction of being the first pilot who passed the pilot's course despite not being qualified on NVG?

...or the one who went FMed6 nutbar?

...or the flame haired crap attitude threaten to sue for failing the pilot's course...then didn't....and was also a nutbar?

In any case mersea, despite all of the above, give it a try because you never know.

But...please retain your sense of humour if you do get in, and at the selection board flirt like mad because they'll be old like beagle, and therefore ripe for that approach.

Clearly they were in the past anyway judging by some of the "girls with lovely personalities" they accepted.

Oh, a lot of us are a bit chauvinist too, but that just makes us more fun to be with and it's a real challenge to try and change us.

Word has it that the AAC are about to take a hit on manning in the next couple of years and once the Airline market increases will probably be hit further. My guess is you probably have a good chance of doing something at the moment subject to meeting the right criteria. Pop down the local careers office and give them your details and you never know.
Also what full story you after, the one about her getting into the AAC or the one about the back of a bedford truck on exercise in deepest Germany.
She was not a bad pilot actually and used the Army to her advantage, can't fault that really can ya!!!! Lots more like her around!!
