Is it essentail that you have a PPL so that you can get commercail sponsorship, if not what bearing does a PPL have on selection.

The ability to hold a class one medical is generally the main priority. Some flying experience to show you like flying and are serious about it would help. A clutch of good GCSE passes and some 'A' Levels preferably in science and maths subjects. Each sponsoring airline will detail what they requir on their websites/adverts/information packs.
