Hi there,
New user just discovering the joys of pprunin' to get my flyin' fixes, but need some info you clued-up dudes in the swamps might be able to help with...

...hoping to get some charter work in Bots next year, though my licence is from SA.
I believe I'll need a validation to the licence, which I think is an air law exam and then a rubber stamp - is this true or not?
Also, once I have my validation and my SA licence expires do I loose all flying priveliges?
Do I renew my licence in Bots or SA or both?

Any help or advice with this greatly appreciated and thanx in advance,

Basil B.

Hi Basil,

You actually get a full Botswana Commercial License valid for 10 years, not a validation.

This involves: 1) Having employment with a charter company in Botswana
2) A Class 1 Medical in Botswana (your SA one is not sufficent)
3) A law exam
4) A flight test with a DCA Examiner

You then submit all this with the correct fees to the department and wait 1-2 weeks.

Hope this helps

Thanks KF

Just the info I was after - I was concerned about looking for work in Maun with only a couple of months left on my SA licence - budgets can be tricky little suckers to work out!

Well, I'll appologise in advance for darkening your door
- and those of the other charter companies too when I come a knockin' next season!

Best Regards,
Basil.
