Newspaper report:

CITY LINK, a domestic air transport, last Thursday made its debut flight from Accra to Kumasi. The 19-seater Let 420 aircraft, which undertook the inaugural flight was fully booked.

Operated by CTK Network Aviation Ltd, a local air transport company, CiTylinK seeks to speedily connect travelers from the Garden City to the capital. Initially, the flight from Kumasi will involve a daily return flight in the morning and late afternoon.

The Minister for Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, Mr. Jake Obetsbi-Lamptey, performed the inaugural ceremony and praised the airline for its bold step. He said the domestic flight would boost the country’s tourism industry and attract investors to the country.

The company, which already operates executive air transport on the West Coast, said it had identified the reasons for the failure of internal flights and had made adequate preparations to weather the storm. CTK currently operate four aircraft on its own and a fifth on lease. For now, the company is using a 19-passenger Let 420 aircraft for the domestic routes.

Speaking in an interview, a Director of the company, Ms Amba Sagoe, said with 10 years of aviation experience in the West Coast behind it, CTK was poised to bring a difference in domestic flights. She said, for the first time in the country, CiTylinK, would, as from early next month, introduce late afternoon flights from Kumasi to Accra and returning at night to provide connections for the international flights.

This is to fill the need for many international passengers who arrive late at the Kotoka International Airport and require connecting flights to Kumasi. “Late flights to Kumasi will meet the needs of those who may want to connect immediately to Ghana’s second largest city,” Ms Sagoe pointed out
