Anyone know what those white marks are on rwy 03L at jnb? there are a series on white, smudged lines running across the runway i noticed the other day. Anyone know whats the story here? (And no, they're not the runway markings!)

Not the white from the sidewalls of those Dunlops during a crosswind landing perhaps???:O

Just a guess but I think its the sections that are being resurfaced in the on going maintanance when they close the RWY at night for RE-hab
(Actually now I'm thinking it is in rehab and the lines are white you say???? coul it be a small drug problem)
The RWY has been devided into different sections for the maintanance and these lines are probably what mark the different sections. I'll confirm with my manager today and post a reply tommorrow

It's the BROWN skidmarks after the -600's land you gotta worry about!:=
