Get ready for about two weeks of riveting reporting.

"Qantas aeroplane flies in hostile environment... minus 50 degrees.. CASA launches probe!!"

"Qantas aeroplanes metres from fiery death.... if the wheels weren't down!!"

"Qantas aeroplane delayed by three hours due to routine fault... won't somebody please think of the children?!?!!"

ahh I feel better now...

...I am The Cutest of Borg......!!!

Surely this is a complete wind up, even from the SMH:

Qantas grounded two 747-700 jumbo jets in Sydney last week after engineers found a 75-centimetre crack in a fuselage

When did boeing create and sell these new 747-700's and when did QANTAS buy them. Honestly, talk about making news up for the hell of it!

What next? QANTAS's Boeing 878-500's grounded due to the wing falling off mid flight?

I like the bit about it aborting "as it approached full speed on the runway".

No wonder they aborted; 320 kts seems a bit fast for the takeoff roll. Must have been distracted by that pesky airconditioning power unit . . . :hmm: :hmm:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 2 airframes I saw on TV were the ex BA 767-300s.
When did the 76 become a jumbo ?

What really annoys me is wind ups like:

"Qantas flight delayed due electrical fault..."

Would the media / public prefer that such faults were covered up and aircraft used in service that were not airworthy?! Crazy! If they wanted to any airline could fly dodgy aircraft around without the media knowing. By declaring an aircraft unfit for service aren't they doing the flying public a favour, even if erring in the side of caution?!

Anything to sell a paper! Grrr... :*

Here we are amusing ourselves (or should I say getting frustratedd) at the (in)accuracy of the Media. :yuk:

Does anyone find it surprising that we still read the papers and believe what they have to say about subjects we know little about?

Sounds like there was a loose nut behind the keyboard...

Interesting piece in the latest AA on QANTAS, suggesting their own 'doom and gloom' releases on topics such as the Air NZ agreement, 'only' making $500m last year etc are creating a negative public image that encourages further negative press, sort of creating their own self-fulfilling prophecy...

Nice one in the Age today (30/9) about Qantas and Cathay aircraft NEARLY involved in mid-collision- only 1000ft (!!!) vertically seperated the two aircraft over Tindal- never let the truth get in the way of a good mid-air...
