Am starting to plan my next trip, and was chuffed when I saw Ryanair's fares to Berlin, a city that I've never visited and is supposed to be brilliant. However it seems that Schonefeld airport would be better termed Wittgenstein North. Has anyone got experience of getting from the airport to the city and how long/how much etc.?

Thanks a bundle for any replies.

Hi,

I think there is the S-bhan that runs directly from the airport into Berlin city centre stopping off at places where you can connect onto the U-bahn..

The links can be found here with what appears to be good information on Berlin;

http://www.btm.de/english/anreise/e_an_flug.html

(Scroll down for Schonefeld S bahn info)

Hope this helps

Dave, you could also have a look at Air Berlin (http://www.airberlin.com) who fly twice daily from London Stansted to Berlin-Tegel (assuming that you're flying from STN).

I heard that Schönefeld is going to be the new main Berlin airport?

Of course if I had my way I'd fly from City airport to the equivalent German one (name eludes me for a second). Saw the approach the other day in London - right over the Thames and that new London government egg building. The views must be great.

Wouild use the regional express train rether than S-bahn - Schonefeld is a long way from center.

Most probably pay to buy a zone A-B-C day ticket, which is valid on all Berlin public transport until 2.00 a.m. next day
