Boeing, based on historical precedent, believes in market fragmentation. Look at who flew to LHR in 1975. PanAm with a daily 747 out of limited U.S. gateways, TWA with a 747 out of a few cities together with British Airways.. .Today, due to more lberal agreements, coupled with deregulation, you have a plethera of airlines flying high frequecy to LHR and GTW, toether with other European gateways using smaller gauge aircraft. The same will occur elsewhere as agreements are liberalized.. .Airbus, according to Boeing, can only sell enough aircraft to be marginaly profitable, to a few airlines that have their hub concentrated in one city, such as BA, LH, AF, FedEx, Cathey, JAL and others. Airbus, Ofcourse, has the opposite view. . .This debate raged as well when Boeing introduced the 747-100 in 1969 and won't be settled until the two aircraft are built and start flying. In the mean time don't believe the propaganda and let historical fact speak for itself. Time wil tell.
