Have heard, and also read on another thread here that some of the NJS 146's are approaching the end of their leases. Has anyone got suggestions to what GD proposes with the fleets? ie more 717's, or that RFP to Bombardier for 50-70 seaters, does that spell DHC8-400's?

Some IFE wouldn't go astray on the Qantas Link fleets as well.

Embraer 170/190 family and DH8 family.

IFE! OH PLEASE let us get IFE! Even just audio would help us out!

Poor souls - we're about to go SYD-CNS (already do SYD-TSV) and they think we have IFE when NOOOOOO....we don't, and there they are - stuck in a cabin, bored out of their skulls for 3 hours!

And they only want to speak to us cabin crew for so long before they get bored with that idea too!

Give the pax something a little bit extra! PLEASE!

Onto the topic

I keep hearing Embraer...Does anyone have any specs on them? Have the 175/195 begun flying yet?

Yes, they are flying, although not with pax at the moment

Time to climb to FL 350 (500nm)
16 min 16 min
Take off field length (SL, ISA, MTOW)
5,541 ft 1.689 m
Take off field length (SL, ISA, 500nm)
3,888 ft 1.185 m
Landing field length (SL, ISA, MLW)
4,318 ft 1.316 m
Range full pax, LRC
2,100 nm 3.889 km

Flight international test flew it recently and came back with glowing reports.
Apparently, according to Fin. Review, QF have put an expression of interest to Embraer.
Embraer have no firm orders from an Asia/Pacific operator and are, according to rumour, very keen to do so.
My mail is that NJS are trying to organise one for the Moomba run in a bid to put one under QFs nose.

Someone who should know recently told me that EMB190s are available for delivery from Dec 04 onwards. All ready to go - just awaiting tick from the big Q.

That would be like the EMB145s that NJS had coming for the Moomba contract several years ago  .

I think it is only the 170 that is available that early

Don't roll your eyes too hard, Bankstown.

NJS had a serious go at that -- the contract didn't hold up, but there were C&T pilots checked on the 145, full set of manuals and SOPs, CAR 218 C&T organisation, all ready to go. More than just a rumour -- that was a full operational capability..... not just a 'wannabe' jet operator...
