The latest air safety mag has a short safety brief on a C207 having an "engine flame-out".

Forgive me if i am wrong but dont flame outs refer to turbine aircraft? Or is the term also used for piston? Have they got the aircraft type wrong here, do they mean C208?????

Havent seen the article, but may be refering to the soloy c207, an allison powered turbine version of the 207. None in aus to my knowledge. However there in a soloy 206, and up until a few years ago there was also a soloy 210.

Have to admit that my eyebrows shot up when I read that too! I always thought that term was only applicable to turbine/jet aircraft. Same publication also has (in the recently completed investigations bit) has Mount Gambier listed as being in NSW!!

Further to this, I have just looked up this incident on the ATSB website. The aircraft was VH-EHL, which is a normal 207 - no Soloy conversion.
