Would anyone be able to help me with headset wiring details?

I have a peltor headset with a UK Nato plug (used in a helicopter) and I want to make an adaptor to allow it to be used in general aviation fixed wing aircraft with the twin jackplug system.

What type of jack plugs are used and what are the connection details?

Before anyone attacks me for breaking this rule and that rule and compronising the airworthiness of aircraft, I am fully competent with a soldering iron.

Thanks very much to anyone who can help me.

PS Is there an Engineering equivilent to Pprune elsewhere?

Generally PJ 055B and PJ068 (tels and mic respectively). Careful of microphone types, though - some need conversion adaptors

an engineering equivalent to pprune: airmech.co.uk. Pprune is better in some ways though.
As per Bus, headphone plug PJ055, phones high to tip. phones low to body. Microphone plug PJ068, mic high to ring, mic low (ground) to body, tip not used for headset . (it is for push to talk line eg on hand microphones).
Watch out for the different impedances etc as Bus states

Just buy an adaptor plug with the two jacks from various pilot shops - you might go back to rotary one day!
