Light plane crash in outback

A MAN is in a serious condition after a light plane crash in the Northern Territory outback, police said today.

The man, believed to be the only person on board the light aircraft, was rushed to Katherine Hospital with serious chest injuries following the crash this morning, a police spokeswoman said.

The plane went down near Elsey Station, near Mataranka, about 400km south of Darwin.

Police investigations were continuing, she said.

If the NT News is to be believed this was a taxying accident involving an ultralight and a road train.

Wing tip clipped a trailer and swung the aircraft under said vehicle.

Pilot suffered chest and facial injuries.
