Hello all
Does anyone knowwhether there is a wind limit on slide operations.
This question has bugged me since the storms we had last December and I can't find an answer.Do we just consider the door ops limit covers the slide as well?
In other terms, would you consider leaving the gate with a full passenger load with gusts above 50 kts?
Serious responses appreciated.
Thanks

Demonstrated/certificated to 25 Knots, but no prohibition on use above that.

I saw a film once on an accident involving a 747 the slides were deployed but were flapping about in the wind, but once the first pax (brave or extremely scared) went down it worked fine.

If the 747 was a BA aircraft then I saw the same film. The slides were rated to approx 25-35kts, but operated satisfactorily in a wind of 50-60kts. The company promptly cancelled an order for slides rated up to 50 kts saving about £250K. The skippers reward for saving a 747 and £250K for the compnay was a £20 dinner voucher! :)
