Can anyone out there tell me anything about the life and Career of a Helo Observer/Airborne Tactician in the Navy ?????

What activities/responsibilities do they actually do/have, Life after flying, opinion of the vocation etc......

Just looking at it as an option for a Helo Flying job.:ok: :ok: :ok:

Anything will be a help......

I was an observer initially in the Australian puss before being one of the few that get a chance to jump front seat. Although I have been paid off for a number of years now, from my understanding you are more like a co-pilot than as an ASW chappy these days without the transferable civvy street qualifications. I would try for a pilots position first if I was you, however observer life can be interesting. Hint: If you want to go anywhere in the RAN/RN, you will have to tack onto the observer ticket, a PWO ticket. Good luck mate.
On a more important note, I think Englands Rugby team has peaked too early!!!!
