Can anyone provide any info on the driving time and conditions if one were to be based in Abu Dhabi and live in or near Dubai.
The allowance that Gulf Air provides I think will go alot further in the Dubai area for a nice place to put the family.

From DXB to AUH is about 50 minutes or less. Unless you drive like a Local. Then, it's only about 20 minutes.

:ok:

Thanks Willie.
Do many pilots do the drive?

I wouldn't worry about gas prices and miles per gallon. You can fill an Accord (or equivalent) for about $12 Canadian (30 dirhams).
That should get you about 570-600 km per tank.
:ok:

by the way, from AUH international airport to Jumierah is about a 30 min. drive.
Downtown to downtown is about 50 minutes.

Willie, for wich team are you racing (Mc Laren, Williams)?

It takes me around 1h15/1h30 downtown-dowtown.(maybe my minardi's set up).

There are so much beautiful and quiet places surrounding AUH.

Looking at some of the point-to-point times quoted here, I think I should stop blaming the locals for the transonic blurs that sometimes pass me on the Abu Dhabi Highway.

Unfortunately only probably one of the most dangerous pieces of road on the planet.......

The Sheikh Zayed Road leading to Dubai from Abu Dhabi is quoted as being the most dangerous road in the world with an average of nearly 400 deaths per year just on a 50 mile stretch leading into Dubai. Not surprising when you see the way they drive.
Speaks for itself......:hmm:

Yikes! I should have asked the missus before I posted. She agrees with the others. Our drive did take close to an hour and a half.
Downtown to downtown.
Sorry mate.
