A twin departed today off 06L and left engine was belching out smoke for a good 7-10seconds immediately after takeoff.
After a quick fly past the tower to get an external engine check, and with T&P's reported to be all in the green, he departed the zone...

Short time later (I believe the same twin) landed and when on the taxi-way his nose wheel collapsed....!

Anyone know what happened with any or all of the above?

White or black smoke? If it was white it could have been a turbocharger that shat itself. But that smoke usually continues, & is VERY visible!!

It was black smoke. Possibly just over-rich.

The aircraft was VH-KWP a turbo seneca and to my knowledge the people on board conducted circuits at RTI and on return, whilst exiting the runway the nose gear collapsed, didn't hear about any engine trouble.

These little birdies were talking this afternoon and Brad Hemsely and Anne Furness's name's came up as being pilots in control of the aircraft as its nose wheel collapsed...

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

The smoke was due to a small amount of oil on the exhaust manifold.

One of the pins in nose wheel was corroded and broke. This lead to the collapse of the nose wheel.

Very senior and extremely experienced pilots were onboard, and no one was injured in this freak incident
