Failed 2nd interview

Hows it goin everyone?
I just come of a second inerview(1st week Aug) and was bummed to find out didn`t make the grade.
Does anyone know what the standard is for Cathay and re-applying for 2nd interview? They didn`t say `****** off` but also left me with no idea where I stand. Has anyone got any advice on what to do now to try for another interview???
Now hooked on Cathay and desparately want another crack at it.

If you keep your details up to date and still appear keen, they may look at you after 12 months. As for the standard CX are looking for? Only you probably know where you stuffed up. Most stuff up in the sim or interview. If it was the medical, they would tell you.

I also have been applying for about 5-6 years, but before I had the requirements.
I got the 1st interview with only instructing time and about 750 multi. By the time the second interview came around I had 230 hours turbine.
I think I got the opportunity because I had lived in asia before. Most of the other guys at the interview had much more experience than me.

hmm whats you age if you don t mind me asking ? i got about 3.000 . 1500 turbine (twin) and the rest pic time on turbine (single engine and piston etc) BUT i am close to 40 :-(

Dont fret, I know it must feel sting getting so close only to be turned down, but the bright side is probably half the sucessful guys have had 2nds in HK at an ealier date, some have even got in on there third attempt.

sounds like your turbine time is light, just seend them a thankyou letter and express your enthusiasim and keep updating, as mentioned min standdown is about 12 months.

Just so that you know you wouldn’t get the interview unless you met their requirements. Having lived in Asia looks good but I don’t think it would have had much of a bearing in their decision to grant you an interview. The interview is a selling exercise in selling yourself. I lot of people fail to grasp this and end up not being accepted. When you get another shot, and you will if you keep updating you file with them, practice not only knowing the technical stuff but also the personal stuff and selling yourself. I.e. “why should we employ you when we have other candidates with three times your hours and fast jet time”? You must learn to sell yourself. As pilots we generally suck at it.

your right, selling yourself is the hard part. Found a good book for that called "Checklist for success" by Cheryl A Cage. She`s pretty good at giving ideas, so I`m better prepared next time!!!!

A wise man once told me (after I failed my initial cpl flight check...many many moons ago)...that failures are successes waiting to happen!!!!.....hope this helps.
