Top UK Govt officials are thinking or planning a TAX on airlines for flying in the air... more cost to push up the cost of flying.. is this yet another potential nail in the coffin of my dream to be a pilot ??

They are listed in the Sky article as, "Government-funded, but independent" Yeah right. Since when did any govt pay people to say things they did not agree with? Therefore, I think that they could be dangerous.

Any organisation that publishes a 'report' into aviation should check that it's very name is not going to be met with a mixture of amusement / dismay / ridicule.

They are called: Commission for Integrated Transport (CfIT)

Fantastic!! Let's seem them bury themselves in the terrain. :E

If you vote in a socialist government, you must expect to have the @rse taxed off you.
After all, they know much better how your money should be spent than you do...

I have to agree with LGS6753. Since Yogi Blair's Bandits have been in power, we have (and are being) taxed into penury.
It happens every time they get into power, without fail. When will Joe Public ever learn?

I think 60 % of Joe Public did learn, thatīs why they didnīt vote for them!!

Iron City -

Stop griping, you're paying a lot less tax as a result.

It happens every time they get into power, without fail. They all do the same thing!! During the Tories last fun and games over 18 years - the tax burden increased significantly. They also started the idea of reducing Income Tax and increasing indirect taxes to make it look as if we were being taxed less. This affected the pensioners and those on fixed incomes the most.

I voted for neither bunch and will have nothing to do with them.
