A pal of mine leaves the UK soon to take up a position as headmaster of a school in Christchurch NZ.

He is thinking of learning to fly once in the country, can anybody give me contact details of suitable places or organisations near Christchuch who offer private flying courses and a flying club atmosphere?

Probably the biggest outfit is canterbury aero club who have an extensive and well looked after fleet, their social side is fairly busy as well. Based at christchurch airport so easy to find, also hiring aircraft there is an outfit called bellview no personal experience of them but probably no aero-club scene if that is what your friend is after.
