A Centurion home was damaged when three freight palettes released from the South African Casa 212 aircraft from 44 squadron of Air Force Base at Waterkloof, Pretoria, landed short of their designated drop zone on Thursday.

Lieutenant Colonel Fanus Pretorius said the palettes - a medium transport aircraft - were being used during a routine exercise when they crashed into a house in Eldoglen, Centurion, causing minor damages.

The cause of the incident was unknown, Pretorius said.

No one was injured.

Perhaps there's a gap in the market for low cost couriers - the SAAF is to DHL what Ryanair is to BA.
