A mate of mine reports system shutdowns a la MSblaster, with a screen reporting "Pozas worm virus".

Anyone know anything about it?

I've searched Trend Micro, Vet (Computer Associates) and Google with no luck.

Cheers

Appears to be the same virus as MSBlaster, AA.

Info here (http://www.my-etrust.com/news/) type in Poza into the Ask Sammy program on the right hand side.

Ausatco,

If you look on each of these pages you will find it listed:

Symantec Win32.Poza.A (http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html)

McAfee Win32.Poza (http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=description&virus_k=100547)

Trend Micro W32.Blaster.Worm (http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_MSBLAST.GEN)

Here is the latest from Microsoft:

What You Should Know About the Blaster Worm and Its Variants (http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp)

Take Care,

Binos, Richard, thank you. That info is, of course, exactly what I need and confirmed my suspicion that my mate was suffering from a variant of the Blaster worm. Dunno why my search turned up nothing - I received a zero result from Vet and Trend Micro when I input poza in their search fields.

Oh, well, all ok now. Thanks.

Ausatco,

Search engines do not always work.
