Let's share some info people.....

I've heard that :-
Dragonair will be looking for 100+ pilots soon.
Cathay starting to look at applications again.
Qantas will accept applications, and possibly recruit next year
Virgin looking for 140 + over the next 12 months.

Surely with all this activity, things must be looking rosy wherever you are. Everyone gets to take a step up the ladder.

Anyone want to share any other info they may have come across!

Good post, Corblimey.

If there's merit to this thread:

there could well be even more happening Down Under than anyone anticipated.

Best of luck to all those playing the waiting game - the industry's well known for its cyclical nature. We've had nearly four years of 'bust' - history says there's a 'boom' somewhere around the corner.. Touch wood!

Cathay already interviewing.
Many Asian carriers re-equiping with their parked airframes and starting to ramp back up.
Emirates still interviewing jet-time drivers (3 year commands)
New start discount airlines emerging throughout Asia/India/Middle East.
QF worried where they will get experienced drivers for their next recruit.
China/Asia Pacific region forecast to be the biggest growth region, next 10 years.

... yes it does look promising, if people stop blowing themselves up!

Not wanting to stomp on the obvious enthusiasm, but keep in mind that there's still masses of competition out there for these few prime spots. And some of the applicants lost their jobs post 11 September, I'm sure that they are happy to move to HK and OZ. Not to mention some of the Boys and Girls in Blue that are keen to actually earn some decent money and leave their paper shuffling jobs in Canberra....

Regardless, keep on pushing for better flying (and paying) jobs. ;)
