Heading out to Los Angeles in 2 weeks to see some friends. Have organised my FAA Pilot Cert and have also booked an Archer for 10 days to do some flying. Leaving from Long Beach, does anyone have any suggested routes that will be around 30 hours flying over 10 days? Quite fancy seeing San Francisco, Vegas, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, and any other interesting places in California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers:D

You could try north to SFO, then over to Reno/Tahoe, then south to Mammoth continue along Hwy 395 towards Death Valley then hop over to Vegas. Otherwise after SFO into the cental Valley south to Bakersfield, palmdale, death Valley then vegas, Grand canyon..... that last routing might not be too accurate as it has been a while since I took that route. Though to be honest seeing as most of the stuff you want to see is in Southern Cal/Nevada..going all that way north just to see San Fran could be an awful waste.

Have fun!!

After visiting San Francisco (suggest KSQL, San Carlos airport), head over to the Reno Area. The Reno air races are in early-mid September, and not to be missed, if you're there.
If you go to the Las Vegas area, try Henderson airport (KHND), south of town, cheap fuel and good service.
September is a rather active thunderstorm month in the desert southwest, so plan accordingly.
