Hi there,

Just a quick question to see if anyone has some gen on really good websites for cheap flights.

I'm looking to go to Raleigh, NC in early september for two weeks from London.

I've looked through some(opodo, expedia), but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as they're are just so many!!!

Any decent sites which people have found useful and offer a decent price so my wallet doesn't get a beating would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys and gals!!!

http://www.airline-network.co.uk and of course Opodo. I've had most success with these two - whatever you do, don't go near ebookers, if there is any kind if problem then they'll screw you and good.

I have brought some reasonably priced flights from both Travelocity and Expedia. No trouble with either of them and Travelocity were very good in cancelling my flights and sending the refund when an airline changed their timetable making my day return impossibe.

One thing I have learnt is not to trust the first screen offering a selection of flights. Allways proceed as if you want to make a booking and if you get to a screen asking for a credit card number then the fare is genuine.

I think it's horses for courses... Airline Network seems to have some real deals booking forward for Aus/NZ, in the the premium cabins certainly (Mrs Phreegreens reckons she's too old to travel in the zoo..!), but I have always found that Expedia seems to have the value on the North Atlantic.

Fix yer itinerary, as far out as possible, dates and times, and then hit all the main sites, you will end up with the best deal and you can choose it you wan't to transfer or have a direct flight.

g'luck and be careful out there :ok:

Used EBookers a lot - usually got the price on-line and then phoned - they have always honoured that.

Last time was as I moved from the UK to Oz. Ended up getting F on Emirates for 1/2 the cost of J on Qantas or BA. As company were paying, they were happy, so was I - wife even happier

Hi,

Try Travelocity (http://www.travelocity.com/).

BAe 146-100 :)

Watch out for the occasional sting in the tale from Travelocity. Having found a good flight price, I went through the entire booking process, only to find they wanted to charge me £10 for delivering the tickets to my home. Expedia sold me the same tickets, slightly more expensive(<£10!), for no extra charge!

Try also - http://www.travelselect.com/cgi-bin/newconcept/starter.cgi

And if you are sure about your plans, use http://www.priceline.co.uk/ where you can "risk" a bid at your preferred price!

Also useful, this site which has all the agencies, but you might have to phone some of them. http://www.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/Raleigh-Durham/London-Area/index.html

Good luck!

the net's great at providing you with lots of information, and sites like Exdepia, Travelocity et al do allow you to compare and contrast prices and times from the comfort of your computer screen, but it's not always the cheapest....

I went to a branch of 'Flight Centre' (see their website www.flightcentre.co.uk for branches over the uk) and they guarantee to beat any internet price that day. There are certain conditions (ie from a uk website, and the price has to be one quoted that day), but they will be cheaper. I went along, armed with print out from the BA website quoting price, and this was accepted, and bettered, no questions.

Don't always assume that the net's cheapest....

Hope that helps,

yp

Try this one for size.

www.skyscanner.net. Sunday Times did a quick review of it today and was particularly impressed by its ability to check across all fares for a particular journey.

New airlines are still being added. BA and Ryanair are still to go on, but they will be there soon.

Let us know how you get on!

Don't forget that any ticket bought will be fully 'locked down' with no changes possible.

I recently booked a trip as I was 100% certain that I would not need to alter the itinerary ... now that I want to change, I cannot. I should lile to use just the return leg but I have to throw it all away. If you/I do not show for the outbound sector, then the second (and any subsequent) sectors will evaporate from the system.

This was only a short haul but it is very irritating. Amusingly, if it were EZY then I could pay the tenner (or whatever) and change the sector at will.
