Hi yall:) As I had possession of a few grands worth of compen vouchers from bmi, I booked the family's flights from GLA to MCO (via MAN & IAD), departing September next year. The final leg is IAD to MCO with UAL, the previous 2 legs being with bmi.
My query....my gut feeling is that United may be going down the plug hole. If so where do we stand if the worst comes to the worst...our booking being through bmi central reservations? Anyone care to share their thoughts on this one? Merry Xmas to all pprunes:) |
I assume you paid with a Credit Card so check with them I'm sure you'll be fine.
Personally I would worry about the MAN-ORD sector as I think BMI might be forced to pull that although they will reprotect you if they do. But I'm sure UAL will come up with a good enough restructure plan to allow them to stay in Chapter 11 for a while so I would not worry my friend |
Why not GLA-YYZ-MCO via AC? That would surely c-y-a. I can't see AC going belly up, considering it's the only game in town, in this section of North America.:)

Many thanks Desk Driver and AOG-YYZ:)
I did pay by CC, but the total cost was only £32, after my compen vouchers were taken into account (that's why we're flying this rather circumlocutious route). No chance then of protection with the CC as total paid < £100. We got a quote from bmi transferring at YYZ.... cost over £1,000 a skull ruled that out unfortunately. Perhaps cheaper deals available but a couple of grands worth of compen vouchers meant that flying with bmi was the only real option costwise. You both seem confident that United will still be trading and your views have given me some confidence in that regard...thanks,guys:) Many thanks once again. |
