BAA Fire & Security Strikes

I fail to understand why the above are planning to strike unless they are all given a substantial pay rise !!!

They wanted the jobs in the first place and were told the salaries and conditions and they signed the contracts accepting these terms and conditions.

So did they all wake up one morning and were sitting around chatting maybe a bit bored and think Hey dude lets all go on strike........the airports cant possibly run without us and they will have to give us a pay rise............man cool idea?

Fair enough the people that work for BAA are all grease monkeys anyway, so maybe this is the only way they can finance that dream XR3I !!!!

Hi Jock,

I think you are way off the mark there, of course these employees knew what the terms and conditions were when they started there jobs thats not the problem, the problem is that after 9/11 there jobs have been made more dificult with increased security and additional duties which have NOT been remunerated in there pay and rightly or wrongly they are not happy about it and feel so strongly about it that they want to go on strike.

Jock in my line of work l have to work with the BAA and whilst we have trouble with them almost every day to call the grease monkeys and wondering whether they can afford an XR3I is nothing but a complete lack of respect and makes me think you dont work in this business and sound completely out of touch.

For people who are getting annoyed about as some call them "wildcat" strikes do remember when we look across the channel to our french compratriots when they do not like something they strike and question do they get the result there looking for???.........well short answer - YES!!

Regards
Deeko

I know we know eachother, although I have not quite pin pointed your exact identity. So I shall therefore put this nicely.

Think before you start publically abusing people. We all have a job to do. Some are more important than others. As for these guys you are reffering to may I ask how you think there job could be made any easier? These guys have to put up with all sorts of nonsense. Whether it be from the general public, their management, or the latest DTR regulations that they have to try and implement asap, whilst still doing all the other things that are in their job description.

I notice that you have not been posting on this website for long, so before you make a name for yourself, quiet yourself down a wee bit. I know work must be quite at the moment, and therefore you only have the internet to help make those 8hrs/12hrs pass, but be respectful towards these aviation colleagues.

Rant Over!

I take your views gentlemen. If you were not happy with your current position instead of going on strike why not leave and find a job that you do like with a salary that you can live with? Insted of striking ???

Its not BAA that are worse off (only finacial) but the poor old public who get the brunt of the problems as usual !!! So there !!
:p

As for the XR3I i bet you two drive them? so sorry if i hit a sore spot. Oh AOG sorry i forgot you ride a camel into work.

AOG as for my identity it shall remain a secret !!!!!! However you used to fancy me ;)
