Any news? Landing yet?
The incident reportedly involved Saudi GLF5 HZ-A6 which, if I'm not mistaken, landed about 3:15am.
So the BBC's quote: "A Stansted spokesman said flights began landing again during late morning, after a period of around three hours when no touchdowns were possible." would suggest that it took several hours before it dawned on anyone that the ILS wasn't working properly. Very strange. |
Either that or all Cat 3A equipped aircraft were passed the reported RVR of 175 meters and we're not able to land, even with the ILS fully functional.
If the a/c landed on 22 it would have been the 04 LLZ it hit. The first anybody would have known about it would have been when they changed to 04 and turned the ILS round.

I was pax on one of the diverted flights, we were told the ILS had been serviceable in one direction only, but that then failed. Had a hold then a nice diversion to Luton
