Transjet
Can anyone shed any light on Transjet. They have three flights a week out of NCL during the summer according to the airports timetable. Any ideas what other routes and bases they fly from and what aircraft they are operating on their flights out of NCL?

md83
w pattern off lgw or man |
If it turns up. They are supposedly getting MD83s for STN, LGW, MAN and PMI and there are a few doubts that these are all going to appear.

Transjet B747. |
Toontartcart,
Transjet started ops last summer season out of MAN/LGW using MD83 aircraft. The owner is he who owned NORDIC, and who's L1011's we had at NCL in 1997 (previous history = Air Ops). Interesting to see them on our programme.... watch out also for a 'new' contender on the scene in GLA this summer........ cheers, starship |
Lets just hope they dont have the same reliability record as Nordic! As I recall delays averaging 24 hours were not uncommon. Why in Newcasrtle do we get one of these airlines every year.
Nordic European. .Transwede. .Seven Air. .All Leisure. .Ambassador to name but a few...... |
l1011 in 97 were air atlanta op for peach air . .air ops went in 96
md83 and 747 will happen in 2001............. |
There's a possibility that Transjet are looking to fill the gap left by the failure of Axon Airlines for the flights to Crete & Rhodes etc.
God help their pax, I wouldn't fancy spending more that an hour and a half couped up in the back of an MD83. |
alcoflyer, I should make myself more clear.
Air Ops (OOE) did indeed close as stated, after which its Tristars SE-DPX and sistership SE-DSB (among others) went to NORDIC. (In addition to the father of Air Ops, when Nordic East became Nordic European Airlines) These two tristars operated the UK 1997 NORDIC EUROPEAN (DJ/NOD) charter programme based in NCL / MAN (and W flights thru BHX / GLA). Peach operated to AGP / ZTH among other places, but did not have a based L1011 at NCL. (Air Atlanta L1011 used as stated). GOOD LUCK TRANSJET in the new NCL W's. I'm watching for another blast from the past to appear shortly. cheers, starship |
Think the bosses name is Thomas Johansson. Used to serve drinks on those trusty AirOps Tristars. Its amazing that if it is the same bloke, he has gone back to MD-80's again. I seem to remember he started Transwede a few years back aswell. Anyone know what happened to SE-DSD, the queen of the fleet?
If it is Thomas............nice to see he has reached his dream. Of operating 747's. He always said he would once the Tristars where finished. [ 10 February 2002: Message edited by: CaptAirProx ]
|
IF DSD WAS THE ONE PARKED AT MAN FOR AGES IT WENT TO ROTHWELL NEW MEXICO
IF IT WAS NOT, IT WENT TO PERU WERE U MAN BASED? |
Captain Airprox,
TRANSJET is the new baby of Thomas Johannsen, and I was equally surprised when the MD80 was used! SE-DSD did go over to Rothwell, New Mexico, and was stored there under the ownership of Jet Aviation Leasing. I think it was registered as N31032. She was leased to Aerocontinente subsequently. The one still actively flying is SE-DPP which is now TF-ABM of Air Atlanta. I hope every success comes of the 747's at Transjet....it is still good to see some independent operators on the UK charter scene. cheers, starship [ 10 February 2002: Message edited by: starship ]
|

It's amazing DPP is still flying, bet its still got that awful bright sickly seating in it! Think she was called Olivia?

Remember seeing SE-DPV being broken up at EGHH. It was quite sad because all the interior was still in place. Brought back a few memories of the contract work for Air Afrique.
Thanks for the info starship! |
