Holding Position Stopbars In Uk

There does not appear to be a standard applied across the UK in respect of when taxiway holding position stopbars are illuminated.

Can anyone name any UK airports that have stopbars illuminated H24, rather than during night hours and LVP only?

Durham Tees also does since having them installed a few years back. The theory being "what is the point in having them if you don't always use them?"

The whole point of a stopbar is that it should ALWAYS be on except when an aircraft/vehicle is given permission to proceed over it.

If some airports don't do this then they are compromising safety.

This study and consequent work was undertaken by the Local Runway Safety Team of Manchester Airport. Due to the successful outcome of the trial, the use of stop bars 24 hours per day to protect the runway will be continued as part of normal operations at Manchester Airport.
