travel city direct flights

The Travel City Orlando flight is in competition to the TC flights.
They are supposed to be using an XL France A330 while they await delivery of their own later this year.

However this has now been delayed until March 09.

I think they will operate 7 departures this Summer to Orlando with 1 at each half term and 5 over the Summer peak. All will be on Mondays.

The TC flights will mostly be operated by MON on one of their A330's on Thursdays.

According to one of my colleagues the other day and he said during the rugby airlift one of the captains of City Jet has heared of them starting a route from Cardiff.

Has anybody else heared anything regarding this?

Mathers were would this city jet flight be to.

planenut321 28th May 2008 17:43

They could do london city as that is where their main flights go from. Or Ireland and France i.. Nice would be Nice lol.

Question

What happened to this useful website? www.cwlfly.com/FIDSCOMPLETE.asp

Also, did we break any records re. Heineken cup day, i.e. number of planes, pax etc, thx.

As Cityjet is a business airline Nice is pretty much out of the question. They only operate to Nice from the business centres of London City and Geneva. Possible new routes from Cardiff would be Dublin, Paris or at a long shot London city. However Cityjet are pretty short of aircraft at the moment so I'd say any new route would be a year or two away.

Car park...

Ta Rossi ! Der !

I'm sure we're all ready for all the fun & games when the pickup car park starts charging ? More queues, disgruntled pax ? Hope that an operative from NCP ( a manager would be better ) is posted at the barrier to fend off the flak from the ICTS guys who are going to get it, even though they are there for a completely different reason ie keeping those abusing them and their families/friends safe ???

mathers_wales_uk 28th May 2008 22:50

My colleague told me paris, but going by the current number of pax travelling on the flybe route i don't think it would work unless the prices were sky high.

I was just wondering if anybody with the know of possible future announcements coming out of cardiff has any info on this.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Also according to my coleagues working the late shift on saturday, there were 4 a/c holding on alpha and 2 a/c in the hold above as there were no stands available.

queues of up to 2 hours at security mentioned by an annoyed passenger.

Monarch A330 turning onto stand 6 where and RE a/c was parked and would not move until passengers were boarded. (this was after having being re-positioned for fueling from BAMC, since it is not allowed up there).

City Jet not very likely

I only think City Jet would be allowed to operate as an AF brand which means CDG. Interest from AF to do this route is not likely to be too high.

I suspect Fly Be are doing okay on CDG but not ready for competition if any on this route. I can't see the CWL management team offering City Jet a deal for CDG.

LCY would be a very strange move as there is a train every 30 mins to London and the other option of DUB would be mentally stirring a hornets nest at FR and EI. Again can't see CWL management doing any incentives on this either as RE have been saying they will increase capacity on this route.

Could be the City Jet pilot was getting confused as they could be operating some flights on behalf of Fly BE, like have recently been happening with other BAE146 operators.

Thanks for the PM mate!

Flybe Delays

What's up with all the BE delays at CWL today?

planenut321 29th May 2008 18:52

One of the EMB145 (G-EMBX) had an engine problem and was tugged from stand to do engine tests.

mrgittins 30th May 2008 00:59

pick up car park...

The expected fun & games started today with the charge going down like a lead ballon ! Reasons not to pay or go to front of TB, ie ''I'm a special case'' - Pax losing the ability to walk to TB, one developed dyslexia so couldn't read the signs so was exempt from charges..... police quite busy too dealing with u turners, illegal parkers / going wrong way down one way system.... ah well, day 2 tomorrow..... only about 160 to go...:bored:

Aer Lingus have flights on sale already for the rugby in March 2009 (20th-22nd) DUB-CWL-DUB on sale for £119 each way. CWL-DUB-CWL on sale for £29 each way! Operated by A330 and A321.
Now thats forward planning!

iflycwl 30th May 2008 16:23

Yeap Aer Lingus are selling DUB-CWL and CWL-DUB flights in March for the Six Nations, x3 A330 and x1 A321 flights lined up for this weekend. Great to see Aer Lingus at CWL - they are quite frequent on the sporting event side.

Can also see that TOM are selling CWL-POP flights this winter (be it a very small programme), in the brochure it does state that flights will be operated by FCA aircraft. Not forgetting the TCX flights and XLA to Sharm el Sheikh and Zoom's weekly CWL-YYZ for Winter 2008-2009, could this be the end of the dead boring winter seasons at CWL ??????

Iberworld are initially operating for XLA long haul flights so far as XL Airways France still having some difficulties with obtaining US permission at the moment. The 747 flights were a nightmare last year and previous years, great to have the A330 - at least it fits on the birdges !!!!!

Saturday 24th / Sunday 25th was a nightmare - all the inbound sectors went really well and smooth. Aircraft parked up all in a line - it resembled an International Airport. Astraeus had G-OJIB operating still in the Iron Maiden World Tour colours. Quite a line up in front of BAMC, Eastern J41, Jestream Executive J31, City Jet ARJ, Aer Arann AT&, City Jet ARJ, Airlinair AT7, Highland J31 and Aeronova SWM with Echo holding GIE ATR AT7, Axis 734, Astraeus 757 and BMI 320.

The departures so Astraeus go with 8 hour delay (due crew rest) and the Monarch A300 going tech leading to another 8 hour delay (punctured tyre). The guys from Servisair looked as if they had an eight hour fight with Mike Tyson come Sunday morning as they were all well bushed !!!! Some had been on shift since 0530 on Saturday morning finishing at 0200 on Sunday morning.............

POP or La Romana? Theres meant to be a few CWL-La Romana flights mainly for cruises but also being sold as land based holidays as well. Or have the flights been moved from La Romana to POP?
