Yes, the schedule has it as going to three weekly for the 4th of November, but it isnt bookable. Yet another route lost from Cardiff.

Just to not Coventry completly off the booking system from Barcelona, while Cardiff is still on it, but not bookable. Looks like Barcelona has been cut from the TOM network.

caaardiff 20th October 2007 17:08

Such a shame. It was a good route, and was doing really well as far as loads go. With some recent flights being near full.
Maybe this has something to do with the a/c upgrade to 737-800 (which still isnt confirmed) A 738 may not be profitable on the route.
This should be something for Baby and ??? to look into! x4 wkly flights by Thomson, must show theres demand.

TOM dont seem to know what they wanna do at the moment. MIR is on the booking list for winter, but not actually bookable and isnt on the timetable page.

@icwlfly

you're mistaken. BH Air flight from Cardiff to Plovdiv is still up once weekly operating from 2nd feb to 5th apr08.

andy1205 24th October 2007 12:39

cwl- bcn flights

cwl-bcn will be back summer 08 ive been told

PhilM 25th October 2007 07:46

There is no 737-800 for Thomsonfly at Cardiff (and unfortunatly probably wont be).....it was all a mixup with the crews rosters ;).

pipertommy 25th October 2007 08:49

So they are still giving up Jersey? On post 179 there is a news link reference 733/738.

mathers_wales_uk 26th October 2007 10:19

what were the loads like on the thomson Jersey? I think the Bmibaby average load was about 100 (ish)

iflycwl 26th October 2007 12:55

The average load on the TOM JER varied from 75 up to 129, very rarely was it below 70 all season.

You would have thought that TOM would have seen the demand for ski flights from CWL and started SZG, GNB or TRN to add to their CMF & INN.

Also heard that Isles of Scilly Skybus are to start daily CWL-NQY flights, not as exciting as BRS news but at least we have gained a new airline, route and aircraft.

Fingers crossed that this new airlines (you know who though) gets given the green light and starts to show new routes that the Welsh have been missing out on and rival both EZY & FR at BRS !

cym 27th October 2007 14:24

TCX

3 TCX flts from CWL over the last 2 days - anyone know why?

caaardiff 27th October 2007 15:55

Extra half term flights. MYT are doing a few more too. Mainly to mainland spain / canaries.
A fair few more to come over the next week.

mathers_wales_uk 27th October 2007 16:39

A 757 Thur
757 Fri
2x 757 + 1 A320 today and not sure what else is to come. All flown on a TCX a/c and handled by Aviance. Shame they lost out to Servisair for the contract after this year.

Turn It Off 27th October 2007 20:16

The thomson aircraft was a B738 today. Is the B733 tech or is this the new plane that was reported as being a roster mess up?

caaardiff 27th October 2007 20:24

The 767 went to SFB empty.
The 757 did the 767 flights (IBZ/PFO)
The 738 did the 757 flights (AGP/ALC) then positioned out empty
All planned for end of season schedule

Turn It Off 27th October 2007 20:42

ahhhh I c now!

I thought we had something shiney to play with.

iflycwl 30th October 2007 10:54

Have heard that FCA are closing their long haul routes ex BRS for Summer 2008.........at last some good news for CWL !!!

Lets hope the management get some new exciting long haul destinations set up for next Summer, in the mean time another very boring winter zzzzzzzzzzz:bored:

This place needs a quality airline say either Air France, Lufthansa or Swiss to start schedules - this is what this place needs, why or why is it not happening ? Look at BRS, SAS to start ARN & OSL flights. Got to give it to the BRS management, they are really good at getting the airlines in !!!

birdscarer 30th October 2007 11:18

I know what CWL really needs this winter......

(Sorry - couldn't resist! I'm now off to run and hide!) :}

iflycwl 30th October 2007 11:30

Spot on mate, mind you CWL would make a nice site for a Tesco Extra !!!

Serious note, what on earth is happening - even Newquay & Plymouth have huge expansion plans with Air Southwest to NCL, GLA & CMF but naff all for CWL !!!

Smile!!! 30th October 2007 13:09

'Huge Expansion'

LOL

Not quite. They are having a few more routes that will probably be cut when ASW incompetent management decides. New routes also because BRS base is closing.

Thta is 100% correct, but who knows why it isnt happening, Lufthansa stated that they were intrested in starting new operation to the Southwest of the UK (BRS or CWL or EXT) quite a while ago, but nothing has come of it. I would be at all suprised if they did announce a route, as there is demand, however I cant see it happening myself.
AF well that wont happen, with KLM already here, BE on the CDG route, and them over at BRS.

iflycwl 30th October 2007 13:16

But still on paper both NQY & PLH look busier than CWL !
All you read about is expansion at XXX and XXX, new routes, new airlines but never any news for CWL !

TOM have shown the interest but no where really exiciting has been added. BCN dropped already........why not PRG, SZG, TRN or GVA for the skiing season ? Good loads on their CMF & INN flights last year.

If TOM are not doing long haul next year that will just leave CWL with XL Airways (330) to SFB, Zoom (763) to YYZ - possibly 2nd flight with B757, TOM to SSH.

Will MYT/TCX be doing SFB - hope so ?

What Wales needs is a small airline similar to Air Wales with small aircraft J41 or ATR size to operate to the other regional UK airports. I remember the loads on the SWS-CWL-LCY with Air Wales being very high, yes majority for Swansea but enough to justify the stop at Cardiff. Ideally we need ABZ,GCI,JER,IOM,LBA,LCY and possibly some French routes thrown in !

caaardiff 30th October 2007 14:17

Will MYT/TCX be doing SFB - hope so ?
Other forums talking of MYT/TCX A330 operating the route as there was a gap in their schedule for Thursdays (CWL day)
However the MYT website stated operator as MYT, but after just trying to book for June next year it now states Thomsonfly as the operator Departing 1130.
If apparently theres no long haul at BRS. This could be good news!
