DUB PIK Apr

I wanted to try the new Business focused FR to GLA out tue back Thursday in April, no FR flights? 5 EIR options each day, where did FR go? Used to be 3 a day on this route, or is a timetable change due ?

Skipness One Echo 26th February 2014 12:39

It was 15 weekly going into the winter, (2 daily except Wed, 3 on a Friday) are they really slashing as summer approaches?

Nobodys Desk 26th February 2014 18:49

Latest rumour is for a once daily service to DUB but it is not set in stone yet. Apparently this lack of airframes problem is causing large headaches all over RYR.

You must be higher up than me as this place loves the 'Mushroom' method of management!

BA have now vacated the former Polar hanger. The proposed recycling facility has gone extremely quiet.
Anyone have any news on this?

Granite City Express 3rd March 2014 08:16

Spoke to one of the people involved with the recycling project, seems the management at the airport are not being as helpful as you would expect.

Tiger8 3rd March 2014 16:37

Why does that not come as a surprise.:ugh::ugh:

Whilst I would prefer it to be kept as an engineering facility, beggers can`t be choosers and any income must be better than nothing.

Airborne_Junglie 3rd March 2014 19:38

My info tells me that they have tried to increase the rent on both the hangar and an on-site warehouse to rather more than you'd expect to pay at Heathrow, as well as a bunch of other highly suspect decisions.

I guess there must be a huge queue of companies waiting to come in there - enough that they can afford to turn away business. Either that, or the existing management are simply demonstrating that they are as good at pissing Scots taxpayers' money up the wall as they are Infratil's...

Not a very positive news report

BBC News - Prestwick Airport reveals loss before sale

Facelookbovvered 5th March 2014 13:54

only surprised that anyone is surprised, FR have them by their curly bits

Granite City Express 5th March 2014 15:36

The only surprising thing is that the people that were responsible for this state of affairs are still running the place!

Flying.Penguin 5th March 2014 15:51

Not the only surprise as here’s another one. The Scottish Government believe they can attract new airlines to the airport. Really...?

honest man 5th March 2014 15:51

The statement about the the people running it is very very true

DC-10-COL 9th March 2014 18:15

From a reliable source at GLA, Ryanair trying to get in from Oct `14.....let the !!!! fly....

Joe Curry 9th March 2014 18:43

Does such an animal exist?

CabinCrewe 9th March 2014 18:45

....theres no "trying" about, the deal was done some time ago and it was suggested on here to much protestations from the local spotters.

V15u4l154t10N 9th March 2014 18:50

Sadly, there's previous - remember Highland Express? BAA devoted substantial marketing largesse to buying-in that short lived airline; what funding might be derived from the Scottish taxpayer? Ah PIK, the howl of Cf104s, asymmetric 1-11/500s off 21, boot heels echoing thro a deserted concourse - -

ScotsSLF 9th March 2014 20:11

So what's the actual deal CC? A full shift away from PIK? The odd 'city' inbound whilst keeping the present base at PIK? Or something else?

Tiger8 9th March 2014 20:45

Okay, so let`s say they do go. PIK are not making money from them as the deal stands. It would leave no carrier, but have others been scared off in the past because Ryanair are at PIK?
If Glasgow are welcoming them, then god help them, because it will end with a war with Easyjet, Jet2 and also the main charter companies.
If it didn`t mean that I`d more than likely have to relocate job as a result of them leaving and some of my colleagues losing there jobs, i`d say fe*k off to them!

ScotsSLF 9th March 2014 20:54

FR have established themselves at EDI without the 'war' with EZY etc. It's a possibility that they may have negotiated a couple of non-EZY / JET2 destinations and aim to service these with non-based aircraft whilst keeping their 'sun' destinations at PIK - CabinCrewe will let us know the exact details as he/she seems to in the know and has been for some time so he/she tells us.

Tiger8 9th March 2014 21:03

Yeah, won`t be holding my breath waiting for that to happen!!
