scratching

the J41s are subleased from BACX up to the end of their lease. Eastern could just re-lease directly from the lessor I suppose but indications seem to be that CX gave T3 incentives to take them on lease which may not be available directly, and of course the aircraft will be older by then.

The company that the 2 J41 come from are now called Independence Air they are about to go into Chapter 11
Independence wont have operated the Jetstreams for at least 18 months as they stopped flying Jetstreams when they changed from a Unted Express (and Delta Connection) carrier to operate services as Independence Air

Also Independence Air have been in Chapter 11 for a few months and may stop flying in the new year

I "understood" that Eastern Airways already flew E135s on certain routes....or am I mistook again?

The 135s went quite a while back now. They favoured the Saabs over the 135s cause of fuel consumption. The Saabs have excellent speed on them for props.

Wasn't that going to be one of the routes to be started by a certain other "airline" which recently set up at IOM? I think I can see more chance of T3 turning a profit on it than anyone else. :hmm:

Given Eastern's exhorbitant fares, quite probably.

Eh Hello? 14th January 2006 19:27

Re: Eastern

The Eastern fares seem in line with their cheaper routes at £99 return on any days I have tried, maybe to ward off competition from the young-lad-with-airline-plans who also announced the route in a blaze of publicity late last year. Has he gone away again or is he still making plans, or am I not allowed to ask?

Re: Eastern

The certain other airline apparently has told Southampton he won't be operating the route and he has also today suspended his one and only service from the IOM, "operational reasons".

I don't think he knows the meaning of 'operational':p
