EUjet web engine bust?
 

Have been trying to access EUjet website for quite some time. Says service unavailable. Would like to see this project work, but as a potential first-time customer am not impressed! Anybody know what's up?

ive been trying all morning too

even the kent international airport site is out of action.

maybe couldnt take all the press interest after the emergency landing yesterday

they better sort it out quick or 1,000 lost bookings per day

Just clicked on YOUR link,and---up it came! For the umpteenth time! I think it could be your servers.

Weird. It was working at 08.00 today, but not this evening. I've just phoned Shannon, and they are doing phone bookings @ web prices, but they can't do the Tesco milk discount (no, don't ask!), so I'm waiting for the morning, when it should be back up.

Definately seems that it might be an ISP problem - works okay for me as well (using Pipex.com)

Not working from some parts of Ireland - West Coast. As Eircom / DNS servers / not working. Works fine in others. Maybe their DNS settings have been hacked in Ireland! Can happen with Eircom. Strange.

Anyone know if EUJet are part of the Irish PSO bids? Halper said they have much bigger plans for SNN or ORK as well later this year.

Can't get the site here either (NTL broadband, Coventry).

Combination of site being down in numerous locations + their incident (however much these things get over hyped) the other day can't be good for morale.

WHOIS points the domains back to the UTV group.

If they are going for the PSO routes, how does this square up with their no frills ambitions? Sure, lots of airlines benefit from PSOs & RDFs, but can a no frills carrier seriously build a major part of their business on this?

I called reservations and they said it was undergoing maintenance. 'During the day?' I said... she politely said there was no problem with the airlins financial state and that I would be able to book online today, but still no website.

no they cant build a sustainable network from RDF/PSO, because that kinda funding runs out after a few years.

Nothing inherently wrong with a no-frills carrier benefitting from Route Development Fund money - Ryanair's in receipt of Scottish RDF funding for some of its PIK routes, and easyJet gets NI RDF funding for some of its BFS routes. The idea with the RDF funding is that the route should be able to stand on its own feet (i.e. be commercially sustainable) within say 3 years anyway.

As for PSOs - well, a bit of low-fares marketing could potentially build the traffic on a PSO route sufficiently (on Dublin-Kerry, for example, I believe it could be possible) to either put the route above the threshold for PSO eligibility next time the contract comes up, or else (if there's not that much growth) at least get the airline's cost base down to a level which would give it a head start in bidding low for the PSO next time round. So as long as the airline doesn't see PSO operation as a permanent life-support measure, I think it is possible to reconcile that with being a no-frills carrier.

Good idea by EUjet, me thinks? On milk cartons in Tesco all over Kent there is a 25% discount promotion running- which allows passengers to book on-line at 25% off using a promo code.
Different idea, good iniative by EUjet. Heard summer is looking very promising for them from Kent, and of course from Shannon.

I'm starting to wonder if the speech recognition software that I use actually has some secret predictive powers!

When I tried to dictate "London Kent Manston airport", it came up with "London canned Manston airport". :ugh:

It also once came up with "basket case" for a local Warwickshire MP (no prizes for guessing which one, but he's not a fan of airports).

I hope, for all concerned, that this is not the case here, and that whatever EU Jet's current problems may (or may not) be, operations at the airport do at least continue in some form!
