Working for Flybe
 

Can anyone tell me what working for flybe is like. What is the pay structure and how busy are the pilots? Do you pay for your own type rating or are you bonded, if so how long for?

It is a great Airline to fly for, just don't believe what some of the grumpy ones tell you.

Great aircraft and fantastic people. Loads of recruitment going on so get your CV in.

I think you would start on the turbo prop on about £25,000 as an F/O or a skipper on £45,000.

If you are lucky, the company has in the past taken on direct entry F/O onto the jet and they start on about £32,000. Soz no direct commands on the jet. You have to work for that! Good luck.

Used to work for them when it was JEA with the Shorts 360, F27 and 146-200's and a couple of 300's. Good laugh but hard work.......worth it though. Im please they've turned themselves around, can't imagine it's much different but then regional operations are like that....

I would ignore the grumpy comments as well. In my experience, it doesn't matter which airline you work for you'll always get people that think the grass is greener on the other side......TRUST ME......it never is!

I totally agree with D7..very much these days a case of 'same !!!!! different airline'. Flybe's main problem is that their jet pay is derisery. The rest is very much the same. If they had 73's or Buses and paid the going rate they wouldn't have the same pilot retention problems. The guys hired at the minute will not need to worry about that..they'll do their 3 years on the prop and nip off to the bigger fish. That's what the company expects or they wouldn't be hiring such volumes of 26 year old cadets.

Yes it is a great company to work for. Hard work but great people.

Don't get too excited about Hudson's comments though - they will not take you directly onto the 146 as an FO on jet salary. There's a whole thread going on this...

In my experience, the experience for cabin crew is somewhat different.

Friends of mine that work for Flybe say they are very happy.
Recent and significant payrise for number ones has made quite a difference and has certainly given the new cabin crew something to aim for. Commission is also helping.

That sounds like a result. What is the senior basic?? Where are your friends based?

the cabin crew No1's have just had the biggest pay award ever!!

A whopping 5k a year i believe - unless someone here can post the exact amount. So the company are trying to redress the balances..... roster stability and night stops next!

aeulad...I think beauport is right and the award was around the 4-5k mark. This would put the no1's on a basic of somewhere around £16k I think, but don't take that as gospel.

I'm sure it will be corrected by someone if not accurate.

CC salary has indeed gone up as of April. Increase of about 30%. Looking forward to that!

And flybe is a great company to work for. Yes hard work, long days but the best people, variety and a fun atmosphere make it the best company I've ever worked for.
