Ryanair Launch Route To Ostend

Hi,

Low-cost Irish airline Ryanair made its inaugural flight out of Ostend airport on Thursday.

One daily flight will be operating to London Stansted, north-east of London, from Ostend, offering yet further competition to rail company EuroStar, whose passenger load has been steadily decreasing since the success of the low-cost air carriers.

Thanks for recycling the press release but does anyone agree that a rapid descent may be imminent for several operators?

notice,

You are correct in that all airlines are suffering at the moment. RYR couldn't give its seats away (but share price holding up well), eJ share price going steadily down with regular news that performance this half-year will be disappointing, etc.

However, the industry is all in a bad way, and despite this I would argue that the airlines you mention are the ones with the biggest cash reserves and therefore in the best position to 'weather the storm' and come out the other end!

Hi,

So you don't think that Ryanair are doing well?

Thanks

Depends on what you mean by 'doing' and 'well' but, obviously loads and yields are significantly down so, even with low(er) costs, these carriers are suffering. As for 'cash reserves' (and they'll definitely be burning them), just wait for the results to be announced

But don't RYR have over €1,000,000,000 (yes, 1 Billion :ooh: ) cash reserves ? That should be enough to see them through anything.

That's unbelievable so do state your source.

Take a look at the investor relations page, go to the power point presentations and look at balance sheet.

£1,000,000,000 ?
What 'investor relations page' proves those Ryanair cash reserves?

p.s. prediction 1 (re. easy losses) was correct
