____________________________ It's official! Announcement to the LSE earlier this afternoon:- EasyJet completes Airbus A319 contract On 14 October 2002 easyJet plc ("easyJet") announced that it had selected Airbus G.I.E. ("Airbus") as the preferred supplier for 120 A319 aircraft, with options with price protection on a further 120 A319 aircraft and had granted Airbus exclusivity for 45 days to agree documentation. Today easyJet is pleased to announce that it has entered into a contract with Airbus for, amongst other things, the supply by Airbus to easyJet of 120 A319 aircraft with options with price protection on a further 120 A319 aircraft (the "Airbus Contract"), on substantially similar terms to those announced on 14 October 2002. The Airbus Contract is conditional on the approval of easyJet's shareholders and a circular setting out details of the Airbus Contract will be despatched to easyJet shareholders in due course. |

Ummm.... not sure what other contenders there are to supply A319s?? NoD |
There goes Easyjet as my prefered airline, as soon as these come into service!!!
Seeya! |
On the contrary I would say.. the minibus is a fine aircraft, flies like it's on rails and never had a bad experience with it as a passenger.
Was especially impressed when I flew with jetBlue NYC to Florida on the 320. |

When do they expect to have the first A319 in service???
|
First delivery is Sept this year, so expect the first one into service then.
Regarding 20 min turnrounds, they are pretty much a thing of the past at easy anyway. |

Since when exactly? |
Didn't easy cite the wider aisle of the 320 as a reason for choosing it, seen as a wider aisle means passengers are embarked and disembarked quicker.
Mytravellite manages a 30 minute turn around on their Belfast route. |
Wider aisle, bigger doors, no cramping into a narrow bit at the front and back.... Lots of reasons for wonderjet choice.
Just surprised to see nothing on easy's website about the signature, though. What engines are they putting on there? PKB |
Sorry to be a little late in the game but does this announcement means that Easy has commited for 120 A320 and 120 A319 for a total of 240 a/c ?

Alex,
Easy has signed for 120 aircraft plus 120 options at the same price as the 120 aircraft. The 120 options can be converted or cancelled at any time, just like any normal deal. So Easy will definitely recieve 120 aircraft, but the other 120 are less definite. |
The engines are CFMs and I think 22k, can you get smaller CFMs on the 319? The 737s are 20k.
