Hapag Lloyd express launch a twice daily service on March 31st from Cologne to Manchester.

The schedule is as follows:-

Hi, This is great news for MAN, yet another airline selecting one of the UK's best airports.:)

Already to come for next year:

April will see us connected to Doha, Qatar thanks to Qatar Airways, they'll be using A330-200 equipment four times weekly.

Air Algerie have commenced a once weekly service to the Algeries with a B737-600.

Emirates will begin a another daily service from manchester to Dubai early next year with an A330-200 as the demand is so great

Delta is doubling its services to MAN by starting a second daily flight to ATL with B777-200 equipment.

bmi have just launched a route to Tollouse with there regional arm bmi Regional using ERJ-135 aircraft.

Virgin Atlantic are to begin a non-stop service to Trinidad and Tobago from MAN next year using B747-400 equipment.

And SIA have announced that they will start using B777-200 aircraft four times a week and B747-400 aircraft twice a week into MAN.

JMC 757-200........you forgot to mention that Monarch are doubling frequencies on MAN/AGP,ALC and FAO and launching a new MAN/PMI service next year

You also forgot to mention the fact that MAN is looking scruffier by the day.... a complete mess ....

Turn round Hapag Lloyd in 25 mins, dream on.Ah! jmc once the **** hits the fan in the Middle East ya can wave goodbye to most of your new routes! oh ya Tommy Tank T1 is possibly is the shabbest terminal of all.

I disagree.....T2 is shabbier, at least T1 has had work done on it recently.....I don't think T2 has been touched since it was built!

No no the seating in T1 arrivals is the shabbest of all.

I have to say that T1 arrivals at MAN is disgraceful for an airport of its size...
Im sure even Carlisle has better facilities :D :o

I was on an understanding it was the A300 .... i must be wrong :)

As far as I know, Virgin Atlantic's plan is to serve MAN-BGI once weekly from Autumn 2003 using the based Air Atlanta B742 in Virgin colours. I have seen no mention of Trinidad and Tobago or B744's. The B742 would also extend MAN-MCO operation throughout the Winter of 2003 on a 5x weekly basis [6x weekly in Summer months].

The Delta proposal for twice daily flights results from the withdrawal of the MD11 fleet. B772 capacity is not available to replace the MD11 for Summer 2003 [current B772 is Winter only replacing Summer '02 MD11]. In order to avoid a capacity cut, Delta proposes 2x Daily B763 on MAN-ATL.

The Qatar Airways service should indeed be an A300 initially. The service is already being marketed locally. Should change to A330 after afew months.

Finally, I must reluctantly agree with the poster who pointed out that when war in the Middle East kicks off we will be more concerned with keeping existing services than attracting new ones.

£1m to be spent on a lift and new toilets... great .. that really helps at the end of b-pier in August.. no seating... no facilities.. hundreds of pax crammed into very small area.... PA system that cant be heard... not enough workstations for a/c dispatcher and boarding staff to work at the same time.... it is a complete disaster.... c-pier not much better.. both piers need completely re-modelling, not just patching up.

Hapag Lloyd Express is planning to increase its fleet of Boeing 737s from the current 4 to 12 by the end of 2003. Chairman Michael Frenzel has not ruled out the acquisition of another budget airline as part of his efforts to expand on the market for low-cost travel.

HLX would have been better the other side of the Pennines, as LBA has no current flights to Germany- MAN is very well served. I reckon they'd have made a killing!

With fares starting at £12.99 they are making a killing anyway.

backtracking a bit ..but 25 mins turnaround could be done with the right amount of staff and handling agent.. and if T1 baggage can keep moving for a change...

Wednesday 19th Feb bother anyone?

T1 cant cope with anymore passengers (no seating), flights (No Stands) and baggage ( C*** system).

Its not half as bad as summers going to be.

I take it BMI baby will be doing international flights out of T1??
