Yup, its true. 1 X Daily flights from 4th January.
Ryanair Launches Newcastle Flights

Yup. Aer Arann is also launching twice daily service NCL-DUB on 6th. Interesting times indeed...

The aircraft for the new Newcastle service appears to have been moved from Liverpool.

A fourth flight from Dublin to Liverpool was announced with much fanfare only two weeks ago! Liverpool is now back to 3 a day.

I understand Aer Arran have decided not to start DUB to NCL, in view of the Ryanair announcement.:confused: :confused:

It seems that way, thats a shame. but one 737 per day will not serve the demand for NCL-DUB.

Unless the Flyin' Ryan have plans to increase frequencies from NCL to DUB to 2 or 3 a day in each direction, I think RE are silly to give up on the NCL/DUB route so hastily. The travelling business public will need more than one flight per day to serve a route. RE are a good carrier with a good product and with the correct times FROM NCL to DUB, I see it working out for them.

Come on Aer Arann - be a bit more adult about things!! Ryanair on a route doesn't necessarily mean the end of a route for every other carrier. Newcastle has a substantial catchment area and not everyone will want to fly there at weekends (Ryanair's market with only one flight a day).

BA stop serving the route in march..which is shocking and appalling n its own...however they had fares for around £100 return give or take a tenner, they also had the availability to do day trips and a choice of timings.

RE announce they will start for around £120 return but with only 2 flights a day..nonetheless a least its a choice.(then pull out.. see below)

MOLly announces the start of the route for around £40 return (after january) with one flight a day, timings of which vary from day to day and of course the start of the world renouned, time honoured, AUC beating customer service and on time record...


What the hell is going on here, if i want to fly with a proper airline and not some shower of idiots, i have to fork out £350 approx to go via heathrow or birmingham(oops... that won't operate either..such is ba's commitment)..to be honest I'd rather dent my pocket then risk my time and patience

FURTHERMORE.....whats been happening to the existing ba schedule..all flights on tuesday afternoon, wednesday afternoon, thursday afternoon and saturday morning all cancelled, I know the loads are not excellent, but there are a considerable amount of passengers still travelling(does a Jetscreamer 41 EVER look empty!!), plus those that were due to travel were put to lhr with ei, a flight which was delayed in the air due to 'ATC', they then missed the last newcastle flight of the day.... are the crew having the blue flu or are the aircraft already sold to eastern airlines(which within 5 years will become a franchise for ba, then within 10 years will be a wholly owned subsidiary and then within 11 years will be FS+S (F**ked, Shafted and Sunk) into non existence)

BA have already given up the route by all accounts.

Ryanair won't stay at one flight per day for long. They'll expand just like Easyjet have already done...martinmax you're not to keen on Eastern's chances of remaining an independent airline then? I hope they don't turn into the Nouveau Brymon...:mad:

Interesting times ahead - having shut off Arann's launch, will Ryanair use their single daily to 'block' other airlines from coming on the route (no doubt adding frequency if and only if anyone tries to take them on) or will they try to grow against EZY in NCL?


Come on EZY, forget Go's bl00dy nose from DUB to EDI and GLA and give us some low cost competition on DUBNCL.

with the Ryanair announcement that Newcastle is to get a new Dublin service I thought that they would appear on the OAG link from the Newcastle website.....it looks like Newcastle does not have a link to Dublin instead we have to FLYBE it to IOM and the get a Euro Manx.....what is going on?

It sometimes takes a while for OAG to update their information. Plus, they are probably confused by exactly what is going on.
