Ryanair advertising lies
 

Ryanair's latest load of b******s has me seething. I've just been on to book for two adults to the French Alps in two weeks time Ryanair (with no choice of times) £316.98, B.A. (with many flights daily) £227.20. So where's this permamnently high fare the advert states? O.k., I admit this is one example but O'Leary's B.A. bashing advert could affect my job (with a BA subsiduary), when the advert is an obvious lie.

BA have substantially reduced their fares with no reduction in service and are now extremely competitive with low-cost carriers on similar routes.

I shall be crossing of Ryanair as a possible future emplyer and hope B.A. sue their *** off.

I saw the ad in this morning's Telegraph, and having had similar experience of the price comparisons between "low-cost" and full-service airlines I made a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority. This is a quick and simple process through a short online form.

Let's get this straight, Apparently:

First you have to pay to apply to join them.

Next you work more hours than anybody else, with pressure to keep on schedule.

Then you don't quite get to where you want to go to.

After that you pay more than going with BA or similar but don't get a seat allocated, meal or drink included.

Yet this is one of the most successful companies in recent times!

Book earlier next time. FR operates on a cheap seats first, dear seats last basis. Obviously a lot of punters had the idea of taking that flight before you.

I fly BA whenever I can [two longhaul this year and another at Christmas] but when you fly into Terminal 1 [Republic of Ireland] at LHR the lack of facilities at places like Treviso, which I have flown to with FR, doesn't bother me so much!

I have never flown with Ryanair or Easyjet, and don't intend to - if I can possibly avoid it.

However when I start making plans for a trip ( I only travel for pleasure ) I do consult the ryanair & easyjet websites. I also have direct access to my travel agents reservation system, so I can see fares, rules & availability on "full" fare airlines before I do book.

To date almost every time I have been able to get reasonable fares with a slight change of travel dates on ryanair, but easyjet has always had the most excruciatingly painful high fares.

Accordingly I now almost only just check easyjet website out of curiousity to see how much I will be gouged.

Yeah but pax numbers up by about 40% for Ryan and Easy this year alone; a LOT of people are finding they provide something they want to buy.

You can have something to eat and drink on board - its going to cost you a fiver.

Their punctuality is strikingly similar to most full service airlines.

They are growing the number of people flying. They are creating hundreds of jobs for pilots.

Why carp about them? Unless their growth is threatening the growth of your airline? In which case its hardly impartial to criticise.

ps Just read this thread about a group of Pax who found Easyjets service far preferable to one of the big four Charter companies... flew home on a nice new 737-700 probably!
