Good route bloggers
In the last 12 months, there has been something of a tendency on this website to believe that only one person on Twitter/X has the ability to work out when airlines are adding new routes, cutting routes or changing route frequencies and then publish this to the Internet. This kind of activity has been happening for at least the last 10 years, and I'm sure many people who regularly post to this website know how to go about this.. I've found/stumbled across 21 other websites which regularly publish to the Internet and often pick up on route changes. Is anybody able to add to this list for routes relating to Europe (yes, I include the UK as part of Europe) ?
In no particularly order: https://www.aeroroutes.com/ - global https://www.ch-aviation.com/news - global https://newsavia.com/ - Portuguese and Lusophone countries https://www.air-journal.fr/ - France and Francophone countries https://www.exyuaviation.com/ - former Yugoslavia https://aviation.direct/en/ - Austria, Germany and Switzerland https://www.aviation24.be/ - Belgium https://www.hangar.no/ - Norway https://www.pasazer.com/ - Poland http://www.airways.cz/ - Czechia and Slovakia https://airportal.hu/ - Hungary https://www.airporthaber.com/ - Turkey https://www.airliners.de/ - Germany https://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/ - Netherlands https://check-in.dk/ - Denmark https://www.flygtorget.se/ - Sweden https://boardingpass.ro/ - Romania + Moldova https://italiavola.com/ - Italy https://www.aerotelegraph.com/ - Germany https://flugblogg.is/ - Iceland https://twitter.com/SPD_travels/ - Manchester I haven't been able to find a good website specialising in new routes to/from Spain that publishes in a reasonably timely manner - the only one I found specialises more in Spanish-speaking Latin America and tends to be very slow at updatng their website. Additionally, I haven't found any sites relating to Greece. If anybody knows of such websites, I'd be very interested to hear. Additionally, individual airport and airline pages on wikipedia sometimes end up being updated based on other sources |
I'm guessing that the "one person" you mention as being recognised for route updates on this website is Sean_M on 'X'.
I think that he is worthy of specific inclusion in the list above ... he is usually on point and works tirelessly to keep us updated in a timely manner. I note that you have included SPD_Travels on 'X' who is also very reliable with his information. |
I think posts like this are the reason that the person in question becomes quite so frustrated - he does often provide the earliest and most concise information of new routes after all.

and now OP famous on said site… what a lot of petty squabbling

My point is that SeanM is not always the first to announce routes... and he often doesn't post some new routes at all. No blogger can be expected to or does everything. The apparent belief on this site by some that one site is the sole possible source and anybody else posting must be copying that sole source seems invalid. When Wizzair cut approx 40 routes last month, I saw nothing posted by SeanM but I did see a lot of reliable info out of airways.cz, boardingpass.ro and aeroroutes. Neither SeanM, airways.cz, boardingpass.ro or Aeroroutes were under any obligation to post anything whatsoever but the info was blogged to the web for free.
SeanM is one blogger. He does a very good job... but he's not the only person doing this and many other bloggers are highly competent as well. Those other bloggers deserve credit from the audience on this site, instead of loyalty to just one person. |
This is a largely UK focussed forum, and of the many links you have listed Sean is the most UK focussed.
I don't think anybody is under the misapprehension that he is the sole source of route information? |
From where have you got this notion that there is an "apparent belief" that Sean_M is the "sole possible source" of new route information? This is not apparent at all, and I haven't seen any discussion to that effect by any other contributors to this forum. It is entirely logical that other sources will be quicker to news from their own home countries ... one would expect that. And no one person can be first to every piece of news coming out of the industry. Nobody here is deluded enough to suppose that.
Sean_M does a fine job. Give credit where it is due. |
Sean M also credits and quote tweets others when news is put out, which is both the right thing to do and incredibly helpful in minimising interesting news which could be missed.
Perhaps the OP might reflect on the language and tone they have used for this thread. |

Perhaps the OP might reflect on the language and tone they have used for this thread. The tone of the post feels unnecessarily rude and confrontational (not for the first time) when there’s really no issue here. However the links you provided are very interesting and I’m grateful to you for sharing. Perhaps you could start a Twitter account and tweet interesting news you find from these sites. |
I follow Sean M on X. His info like many other sources are concise. I'd just point out he only contributes as a hobby and I'm seriously not jealous.
