These operators and routes tend to go round in cycles. Everyone piles on to the same destination for a few seasons, then most pull out. I guarantee Sun Express and Correndon wont be there in same shape in a few seasons
(and not unique to NCL).

Corendon will most likely start Greek flights like they do from Manchester and Gatwick too and have already expressed an interest in expanding routes from the UK

Jamesair1 23rd May 2022 09:17

According to Wikipedia... Vueling ceases Paris-Orly on the 15th July.22.

We must consider that pre-pandemic, Thomas Cook Airlines represented a huge amount of capacity between UK airports and Turkey / Greece for the leisure market. They didn't do much to Spain. If those countries want to attract UK tourists in similar numbers going forward, someone has to backfill that lost volume of airseats. The Turkish carriers have taken on that challenge. With Thomas Cook gone, there is a gap for them to fill. TUI and Jet2 can only do so much. They don't need to reinvent the market. Just pick up some of those customers displaced by the loss of Thomas Cook Airlines.

Chatting to a crew member today on a flight into LCY I was told that BA CityFlyer will be operating a charter series between NCL and SALZBURG.....sorry, no further details were given.

Yes, that's correct. It will be on behalf of TUI Lakes and Mountains. They have operated GLA-SZG charter flights for several years now. The aircraft will operate GLA-SZG-NCL-SZG-GLA on Saturdays. Think this is the first time they have operated the NCL route, in the past it has been operated by TUI and before that flybe.

Flightrider 25th May 2022 18:30

Correct, BA CityFlyer E190 operating:

Saturdays 28May-03Sep
BA4521 GLA-SZG departs 0740
BA4524 SZG-NCL arrives 1330
BA4523 NCL-SZG departs 1500
BA4522 SZG-GLA arrives 2040

10Sep operates GLA-SZG-GLA only

beedoubleu 26th May 2022 09:38

BA Cityflyer did have a Saturday lunchtime W rotation service from NCL in 2011 and pretty sure this was also SZG.

It would appear that reports of the demise of Vueling's ORY-NCL route from mid-July may be incorrect. Flights remain on sale after 15th July and appear to run now until 9th September.

Ryanair

Just a quick observation it looks like they’ve dropped one winter rotation Newcastle to Tenerife in winter 22/23 and Gran Canaria isn’t bookable at all now anyone know if we are to lose anything else ?

toon22 1st Jun 2022 16:27

Looks like Air France have gone to using mainline equipment, even an A321 this morning! Anyone know the reason?

Mmm, that doesn't sound very encouraging. But lots of Turkey overkill generally (a bit like Christmas)

Or a typical Scottich school holidays switch?

Asturias56 2nd Jun 2022 07:30

who would ever have thought you'd have more passengers to Dubai than to Paris? The world has certainly changed!!

deltahotel9 2nd Jun 2022 08:28

They did sell tickets for those flights so if it was pre-planned having to now cancel them and rebook or refund customers is not great PR for a company trying to establish themselves at NCL.

HH6702 2nd Jun 2022 15:01

It’s not just NCL they have cut back from

I’m guessing they will be suffering like everyone else with staffing

Handlers certainly are struggling. Lots of new staff not up to speed. Try and help when can.

Asturias56 4th Jun 2022 08:04

"DUBLIN IS THE SURPRISE 6 WKLY IS A REALLY LOW FREQUENCY"

Well its 3x the frequency to Malaga - no doubt as passenger numbers increase so will the flights

GrahamK 6th Jun 2022 06:36

Have they run out of fuel at NCL? A lot of outbound seem to be operating via other airports this morning

Yes noticed the TUI 73M on the NCL-CFU only managed as far as EMA, as per FR24 then never made it above FL170, assume all part of the flight plan, & not another "hiccup"...

It transpires that there was a complete disaster at NCL this morning insofar as fuel availability is concerned. Very surprised that only one comment re this mess,.
For clarity AT LEAST ELEVEN departures from NCL this morning diverted (EMA x7), (STN x3) , (CGN x1), there may be many more................
Is this due to industrial unrest, & is it ongoing / resolved ?
A significant number of NCL pax affected by this mess, insofar as returning flights then significant delays already eg. LS514 from HER looking like 4 hours due to delays at STN.
Bit of a nightmare I'd say.

Jamesair1 6th Jun 2022 16:14

Also since my post on the 1st June re Ryanairs Winter 22/23 timetable

Malaga has been increased from 2 to 3 weekly.....Gran Canaria has been re-instated with 2 weekly as has Riga with 2 weekly rotations plus Dublin at 14 weekly.

How the hell did the airport allow this to happen & who foots the bill for this mess? It must have cost the airlines concerned a fair amount in wasted fuel and landing costs never mind delay compensation costs for retuning customers

deltahotel9 6th Jun 2022 18:00

Do we know if it was lack of fuel or lack of staff to refuel aircraft? Either way a real mess as others have said. It wasn't mentioned but one or two days last week all early morning departures were delayed, I think it was Thursday or Friday when that was by at least 45 mins to an hour in most cases, maybe connected?

SWBKCB 6th Jun 2022 18:08

Both I hear - reportedly a one-off, last week was just the usual mix of stuff

Chesty Morgan 6th Jun 2022 18:30

At least one airline has been tanking fuel to NCL for at least the last month. Mainly due to hippies glueing themselves to the tankers leaving the refineries, apparently.

A spokesperson for Newcastle Airport said: "Due to temporary issues with the supply of aviation fuel to a number of airlines, we experienced some limited disruption to flights from Newcastle Airport this morning.

"Each airline has a contract with a fuel supplier, who then contract fuel deliveries to haulage companies.

"We have been working with all parties to minimise the impact of this disruption and the issue is now resolved. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

never has a quote summed up my beloved fellow NCL passengers so much!

I blame it on the lack of supply drivers outside the airfield. No glue specialists about the north east. I do not blame the airport. I blame Boris and the Monkey hangers that caused this.
