Falklands - Second Commercial Route
 

I see the second route has finally opened - from Sao Paulo - not sure how this affect s travelling with the RAF from Brize. According to ITT in Stanley the timings are:-

Flights round-trip to the Falkland Islands from Chile (Saturdays only)

On the second Saturday of each month you can board the flight at Rio Gallegos in Argentina. On the third Saturday of each month you can disembark in Rio Gallegos.

On the second Wednesday of each month you can board the flight at Cordoba in Argentina. On the third Wednesday of each month you can disembark in Cordoba. Those specific flight days will operate from Sao Paolo to the Falklands round-trip as follows:-

Flights from London-Falkland Islands (via Brazil) to arrive/depart the Falklands on Weds only

Tuesday: London Heathrow 20:35 Sao Paolo 05:20 Wednesday

The Brazil-originating flights have been operated by a TAM 767 (according to FR24).

Bit bigger than the usual Punta Arenas A320 then..................

It was a 737-200 during my times down there, with holds and unoccupied seats piled high with fresh fruit and veg for Stanley growers.

I can remember as few as 12 people on those flights - last time I went there were +60 both ways... and they reckon that the rise in Expedition Cruises means some flights are booked out completely these days
