Hibernian Airlines

Small carrier based in Ireland operating a single ATR for wet lease, currently flying for Air Nostrum. Not the same as its namesake from 50 years ago

Seems a somewhat odd airline in a consolidating industry. Most of the small 737-for-hire airlines in Europe seem to be bases in eastern Europe where wages are low.
So why do Hibernian think they can survive where countless others have gone bust ?

Further info is available in this article. The carrier operates two CRJ aircraft.

A CRJ1000 flying pencil parked at the DUB 200 gates in Air Lingus colours would look very nice and with the new runway coming along so that push-back isn't delayed commuting over to the UK will be a pleasure.
Stobart aren't friends of Aer Lingus and they need to be kept honest.
There's a few of Gurada CRJ1000s going spare which would flesh it out quite nicely(a flight of fancy I know).

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the article. Sheer guesswork (and inaccurate at that!)

Hibernian Airlines operates as a 'production carrier' for their Spanish parent, Air Nostrum. The two CRJ-1000s fly exclusively on Air Nostrum routes.

Got two CRJ's from Air Nostrum.

By being part of a much larger group? Weren't Nostrum also merging with CityJet?

Flight - Air Nostrum outlines plan for start-up Hibernian Airlines

If Hibernian are part of Cityjet/Air Nostrum, then why the need for 3 AOCs or 2 Irish AOCs ?

sewushr 17th Jan 2020 12:52

You might just as well ask why do SAS need two AOCs? Or Norwegian 5 (including 2 in Norway). Or Avion Express and SmartLynx AOCs in their own State and Malta?
All sorts of reasons. But usually financial in one way or another
