Based on when BHX and STN were announced, the full programme had been put on sale. After a while, BHX and STN were then announced.

Even so, i wouldn't expect to see any new base this year. It's been well documented that Jet2 want to focus on their key bases of MAN, BHX and STN, especially with all the extra slots they bought from the TCX collapse

Are the A321s due to operate any flights before the summer season begins? It’s still a few months away.

Another new Jet2 A321 (G-HLYA) was ferried from Cyprus Larnaca to Ostrava in the Czech Republic yesterday for painting into Jet2holidays livery.

Geeky first post... Is there any meaning behind the registration series chosen, or is it a case of what is available.

JZH- looks like Jet2Holidays... HLY (for the "new" 321s - HoLidaY?? and what about DRT... DART Group?

Have I missed anything or barking up the wrong tree?

G-CEL Channel Express Limited
G-GDF Great Deal Friendlier
G-LSA LS1 The reservations system that holds the whole thing together
G-JZH JetZholidays (Jet2holidays)
G-JZ JetZ (Jet2)
G-DRT DART Group
G-HLY Holidays (All a/c in Jet2holidays livery)

G-DRT has been the sequence for the second hand B738s (since G-JZHH) but we have reached G-DRTZ now so it will be interesting to see what comes next 😉

Thought the LS ones were because it’s the postcode of the head office/OCC

LS was actually the two letter code used from 1978 by Channel Express, the airline that became Jet 2 under the leadership of the present Jet2 chairman and many years before the move to Leeds was conceived. Jet2 inherited the Channex coding legacy.

The connection to a Leeds postcode was not intentional, but no doubt a handy marketing ploy for a business putting down new routes in the north..

Smart company!

Any idea where “LS” came from? “EXS” I guess comes from the word “Express”?

Ready for its paint now.

G-AZUK 20th Feb 2020 10:33

nice to see them registering the 321 aircraft in C/N order, the reason why 'YF' was actually delivered first, will make it nice and tidy once they all arrive for the compulsives

garry8g 20th Feb 2020 14:12

Jet2 B737-800 G-DRTM entered revenue service this morning on LS249, Leeds to Fuerteventura.

Also, G-DRTL performed a short test flight at Manchester this morning at 06:41.

Neither Holiday House (The Mint) or Low Fare Finder House are in LS1.

LS being the last characters of Channel Express makes sense.

No but they’re both in an LS postcode.

Gurnard 20th Feb 2020 21:01

That may be, but it doesn't alter the fact that the LS connection goes back over 40 years to the time when the carrier's ancestor was based in Bournemouth and the Leeds connection was not relevant. See Flitefone's post (above) on the 19th.
